About Me

I am Johnathan Thor from class 4O3 studying in Hwa Chong Institution and is also part of the Science and Maths Talent Program. I am passionate about Sciences and is very keen in exploring the world as what defines it and how human inventions had shaped the way we live today.

The industries had been very important for our growth and many famous people with their great ideas, such as Henry Ford and his moving assembly line, had revolutionized how goods are made, packaged, sealed, move, advertised, sold and eventually used.

Over the years, my friends and I came together and created projects. One of which is "Investigating the dihedral angle of the plane affecting the lift generated on the plane" as well as "Investigating anti-bacterial properties of chicken and quail eggshell protein on bacteria". For both project, my separate teams yielded positive results, showing that our approach as well as our adaptability to problems is highly thought of. We are careful and do not relent until we obtain actual results as we faced many difficulty. One such example would be the fact that our methodology to our project, especially for biology, did not exist at all and we had to source for different methods and including these in our own project.

These are 2 very different projects, one focusing on physics while the other is about biology, which shows that I possess a dynamic character to tackle problems from different fields. Also through doing these projects, I understood that we had to be very flexible with our mindsets and have to face unforeseen problem  and overcome them as soon as possible.

Finally, I am very interested to see how the industry functions and may be interested to pursue a career regarding the industries. I believe that industry is the backbone of Singapore's economy and it is vital to improve the efficiency of these industries for further growth. After learning the concepts obtained through the journey, I hope to be able to apply some in our lives to improve our efficiency of work as well as study to reach a greater level of success.

To add on, my passion for aeronautics are not baseless. Airplanes are becoming almost the normal mode of travel, almost countless intercontinental flights everyday, racking in tonnes of money and investments. In the future, I believe that with sufficient research, humans would be able to invent new types of flying or levitating mode of transport, which requires a large amount of expertise from group such as Boeing and Airbus. There are already concept cars that flaunt their ability to fly anywhere they want, so if we worked hard, it would not be too hard to bring this concept into reality.
